6 Boot Trends That'll Bring Some Kick to Your Style

I’m pretty excited because it’s time to bid farewell to open-toed shoes and sandals and move on to boots. I know we all gave boots the cold shoulder once temperatures climbed back up in April, relegating them to the back of the closet, but Hey Boots! I haven’t forgotten how cool you really are!

Unlike the “Boots Are Made for Walkin’” days of Nancy Sinatra, today’s boots come in all sorts of choices from long, short, chunky, stiletto, military, zipped, laced—you name it.

Here are a few of this season’s trends that I have my eye on:

The Low Cutout

If you’d rather skip the socks and the challenge of a higher heel, then these slip-on beauties may be exactly what you’re looking for. I think I could survive teaching my college art history classes in these babies! (Top via Free People; bottom via Madewell)

Cowboy Boots

This may be something you’ve already got in your closet as most cowboy boots are so well crafted that it’s wise to keep them as forever fashion staples. It may be a trend, but I declare, I think they’re a classic. (Top via Nordstrom; bottom via Zappos)

Animal Prints

As the owner a pair of faux snakeskin boots, I can attest to the fact that they are my most complimented. Pair with skinny jeans or leggings and you’ll make a bold statement even on the most grayed out winter day. (Top via Topshop; bottom via J. Crew)

The Knee-High

When I want protection from winter chill plus sleek style, knee-high boots can’t be beat. (Top via ASOS; bottom via Macy’s)

Lace-Ups

These gorgeous specimens are a far cry from their Victorian predecessors. Colorful combat boots or perforated suede? I’ll take both. (Top via DSW; bottom via Shopbop)

White Boots

I bet you didn’t see this one coming, and I have to admit I had my suspicions. But as you can tell by the model demonstrating some serious street style (top/header) as well as the woman in the image above, it’s seriously a chic look and defies the rule that you can wear white after September. Bravo! (Top via Net-a-Porter; bottom via Target) (Image, top of article, via)

Which trend would you wear and how? I’d love to know!
