California's Desert X: The Ultimate Outdoor Art Show

California's Desert X: The Ultimate Outdoor Art Show

There’s a buzz of activity here in So Cal this month. Some people are hopping in their cars to travel in hoards to see the incredible wildflower super bloom. Others are flocking even further into the desert of the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs (approximately two hours from L.A.) to check out the second installment of the ultimate scavenger hunt-like outdoor art exhibition, Desert X.

Spanning 50 miles and featuring the work of 19 artists, Desert X is the perfect destination for someone ready to experience the beauty of the California deserts in spring (blooms guaranteed!) while pursuing this fun quest of locating the show’s site specific contemporary art.

Together these artists are presenting themes that have to do with contemporary issues too, particularly the environment, such as the decline of the Salton Sea, all the while connecting their installations to typical road trip sights such as abadoned gas stations, billboards, the famous desert windmills, and of course the incredible expansive views of the desert itelf.

A vintage convertible and picnic basket a must. Desert X 2019 will run through April 21st.
